As part of our governance framework, we have two types of committees: Standing Committees (reporting to the Board of Directors) and Operational Committees (reporting to the CEO).
Applications for all committees are open until April 19, 2024, with committee terms beginning in May of each year.
AMBA's Awards Adjudication group is closed for applications.

NEW! AMBA's 50th Anniversary Task Force
The purpose for AMBA’s 50th Anniversary Task is to spearhead the brainstorming of celebrations marking the association's milestone achievement. The Task Force will work to identify and support creative initiatives to commemorate the 50th anniversary, ensuring engagement and participation from members and stakeholders.
All applicants must be members in good standing with AMBA.
The 50th Anniversary Task Force does not need to attend the committee orientation session.

Audit, Finance & Risk Committee
The purpose of the Audit, Finance & Risk Committee is based on the Board’s goals for a governing year, assist the board in fulfilling its obligations and oversight responsibilities related to financial planning, audits, financial reporting, corporate controls and risk management.
Must be a member in good standing or have external expertise.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Advisory Committee
Based on the Board goals for a governing year, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee will act as the advisory body for AMBA in relation to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The intent of this work is to help AMBA develop and maintain an environment where we recognize the dignity and uniqueness of the individual, and where we meaningfully leverage equity and diversity in our staff, Board of Directors, membership, and community.
Must be a member in good standing or have external expertise that cannot be easily found in a member.

Education & Professional Development Committee
Based on the operational business plan for a governing year, the Education & Professional Development Committee will act as a resource to the CEO by supporting the Education staff in the review and improvement of existing education programs and provide suggestions for future programs. In addition, committee members will act as subject matter experts in supporting education program learners with curriculum and exam-related questions.
Must be a member in good standing, a staff member of AMBA or have external expertise that will support the professional development and education programs.

Must be a member in good standing or have external expertise that cannot be easily found in a member. Experience or a high-level of interest in association/NPO governance is an asset.

Based on the Board goals for a governing year, the Hearing Pannel Subcommittee will support the Professional Standards Standing Committee through the facilitation of hearings and deliberation of recommendations in response to submitted professional standards/code of conduct complaints.
All applicants must be members in good standing with AMBA. Successful applicants will receive complimentary administrative justice training annually and there is no time commitment beyond the training, unless called upon when there is a case that requires a hearing panel.
The Hearing Panel Subcommittee does not need to attend the committee orientation session.
Applications for the Hearing Panel Subcommittee are open until May 31, 2024.

Professional Standards Committee
Based on authority granted by the Board of Directors through the Bylaws, the Professional Standards Committee is an investigative and disciplinary body that has been charged with investigating and assessing penalties to Members who breach AMBA’s Code of Conduct.
Members must be in good standing. Members who are licensed Mortgage Brokers must not have any pending RECA investigations or have been assessed any RECA penalty within the past 5 years. Any public member may be a member of the real estate industry but must not be directly connected to any mortgage brokerage, or industry partner company.
