Our approach to membership
AMBA's membership is a corporate/individual hybrid model. This means that the corporation/company/brokerage is the principle member, but individuals within the brokerage or company are assigned individual seats/memberships. Individuals cannot port their membership to another company/brokerage unless that company/brokerage is already a member of AMBA.

Membership Model - Brokerages
Our brokerage-level membership is available to any mortgage brokerage in Alberta provided they are licensed with the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA). As per our bylaws, when a brokerage joins AMBA, any Mortgage Broker licensed with the brokerage receives a seat/membership with AMBA.
Brokerage dues are calculated based on the total number of licensed Mortgage Brokers registered with the Brokerage, as verified by RECA. Dues are calculated at $350 per licensed broker, and an invoice for the total amount is issued to the Broker-of-Record. Please note that we are unable to invoice each mortgage broker separately.

Membership Model - Industry Partners
Our industry partners are members of the mortgage industry who are not practicing mortgage brokers. This includes but is not limited to: lenders, insurers, appraisers, lawyers, tech providers, and more. Our industry partner membership is a full-access membership. Membership is issued to the company, and includes a maximum of four (4) individual membership seats which must be assigned upon joining.
Industry partner dues are $1,400 annually, and include up to four seats/memberships. Industry partners may add additional seats to their membership for a fee of $350 per additional seat above four.

Dual membership
In 2020, a partnership between AMBA and Mortgage Professionals Canada (MPC) was established in response to industry feedback seeking a more unified approach to association representation. As part of that partnership agreement, AMBA and MPC each reduced their membership dues, and implemented a mandatory dual membership model. As a result, all AMBA members are also members of MPC, and vice versa. Your membership fees are automatically distributed equally between AMBA and MPC. |
How does my brokerage/company join?
All industry partners and brokerages must complete a membership application, and all memberships are conditional pending Board of Director approval (which occurs quarterly). All members must agree to adhere to our bylaws, Code of Conduct, Rules and Regulations, and applicable legislation and regulator rules.
